Spaces in Manuscripts

Line Spacing in print As a general rule of thumb, Women's Fiction prints in single line-spacing with 1cm/5space indents on new lines. A blank line can be used to indicate a section break (if time has passed, for instance, but not enough to warrant a chapter break).

Line spacing in manuscript. For the purposes of formatting your manuscript, you will need to use double line-spacing. Open the word document on formatting your manuscript for more information.

Space after fullstop My personal hoodoo is the number of spaces after a fullstop ('period' for those of you over the pacific). My high-school typing teacher drummed two spaces into me by rote. But she was wrong! Turns out that one space is the standard after a period/fullstop.

What about the dot? In the case of '...' there is no space at all unless a new sentence is starting. For example...this is the correct format for a line that runs on. But this... Now that's a different story.
