Romance Writers of Australia national conference - August 21-24 (Melbourne). I fly out tomorrow to meet with writers from all over Australia and to pitch 'Wild Encounter' to Bernadette Foley of Hachette Livre Australia.

• IGNITE THE FLAME (RWA US): 'The Player' placed first in the Contemporary Category class of this US competition.
• IGNITE THE FLAME (RWA US): "Wild Encounter" placed second in the Romantic Suspense category.

July 2008

• GREAT BEGINNINGS (RWAus): 'The Player' placed first in the Romance Writers of New Zealand comp. Request for a full MS from Kimberley Young - Harlequin M&B.
• THE MOLLY (RWA): "Wild Encounter" through to second round (semi-final) of Heart of Denver RW presitgious US competition. Fingers crossed.
• THE CLENDON (RWNZ): "Wild Encounter" Highly Commended in the Single Title category of this prestigious New Zealand writing comp.

June 2008

• WORK IN PROGRESS: Started working on 'Urban Nature'. This was a project I undertook during the Australian "50k in 30 Days" challenge which gives writers just one month to write a 50,000 word manuscript. As it happened, I've had interest from a category publisher in something around 50k targetted more to them and so I made that my June challenge (see below).
• FASTRACK: Received a second 'yellow-slip' from M&B for the editor of the 'Sexy Sensation' line and a suggestion to write something targetted at that line (urban romance). Eek, better write something!

January 2008

• SELLING SYNOPSIS 07 (RWAus): 'Wild Encounter' won third-place in final judging. Request for a partial from Samhain Publishing.
• WORK IN PROGRESS: Started working on 'The Player'

December 2007
December was a fanstastic and exciting month for me. Three Oz competition finals, interest from a major publisher and a request for full manuscript from another major publisher.

• REQUEST: Berkley have requested a full manuscript of "Wild Encounter" for 2008.
• FASTRACK: Harlequin M&B have expressed interest in my writing and provided a fast-track submission for my next book (a category) to Jenny Hutton (UK).
• STALI 07 (RWAus): 'Wild Encounter' finalled in Romance Writers of Australia 'Single Title and Loving It' competition and fourth in the final judging.
• HIGH FIVE 07 (RWAus): 'Wild Encounter' finalled and judged sixth in the final juding. Partial judged by Harlequin Mills & Boon.
